Join us for a day of learning, support, and information exchange!

Light breakfast and registration from 8:30am - Program begins at 9:00am

This convening is for family and friends caregiving for an adult living with a complex illness (e.g. dementia, general frailty, Parkinson’s, stroke, Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS),  Multiple Sclerosis, and similar conditions), and professionals who provide services to caregivers and care receivers in Alameda County.


Keynote Speaker: Rita Choula, Director of Caregiving Projects,AARP Public Policy Institute. Co-author, Home Alone Revisited study, 2019. Special consultant on identifying and supporting the needs of multicultural family caregivers.


Welcome by: Supervisor Nate Miley and Supervisor Wilma Chan


  • A Continental Breakfast and Lunch are provided - (Including vegetarian options) .  Parking and Respite Care information in FAQ's below. 


Deadline for registration is January 21st, 2020.



  • What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

 Parking in the area is available on a first come, first served basis. Many garages/lots offer early bird parking.


Below is direction and parking lot information provided by California Endowment (note: parking fees are out of date).  Current information for one lot with ample parking spaces is:

Telegraph Plaza Public Parking - 2100 Telegraph Avenue Oakland 94612 - Entrance: 21st & Telegraph Ave. Plan on $15.00 for Early Bird (before 9:30am) Parking.

 (NOTE: A contribution to help offset the cost of parking/transportation to attend this event will be provided to registered attendees.)

  •         Is respite care for the person I care for available so that I can attend this event? 


Respite care (assistance to arrange for and pay for respite care) is available from Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA) through January 13, 2020.


On your registration form for this event, select "yes" when prompted.  A staff person from FCA will contact you using the phone number provided on your registration form to assist you in arranging for respite so that you can attend  Caregiver Conversations.


(Note: Respite will not be provided on-site.)

Family Caregiver Alliance:
The mission of Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA) is to improve the quality of life for family caregivers and the people who receive their care. For over 40 years, FCA has provided services to family caregivers of adults with physical and cognitive impairments, such as Parkinson’s, stroke, Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. Our services include family caregiver assessment, care planning, direct care skills, wellness programs, respite services, and legal/financial consultation vouchers. Ongoing support is available with FCA via CareJourney available 24/7 online. FCA is a longtime advocate for caregivers in the areas of policy, health and social system development, research, and public awareness, on the state, national and local level.
