Can't Wait to Eat - Chapter 2 | Persimmon-theme Edible Exhibition
Overview
How long do you wait before eating a persimmon? From its sweetness, texture, and medical characteristics, to the eating tools and food pairings, each choice is a small game between you, the fruit, and time.
Edible Exhibition: Persimmon, Time and the Possibilities in Between
As the latest showcase of the project Can’t Wait to Eat, we invite you to this edible exhibition, investigating how time, nature forces and human labour manifest in the taste of persimmons. Here, you’ll encounter four works, including a brand-new interactive Persimmon Pairing piece: a playful station featuring persimmons at different stages of ripeness, along with a table of ingredients for you to freely mix, match, and create your own bites. Forget the “right” way to eat a persimmon: be curious, be childlike, improvise, and share it with the others!
In Chinese culture, the persimmon (shi) represents good luck. As the new year approaches, we would like to share this persimmon-sweet blessing of shi shi ru yi 柿柿如意: May all your endeavours go as wished!
Plus: Our creative persimmon desserts from the previous practices will also return for purchase, along with small Christmas gifts to take home — perfect for sharing a little time-ripened warmth with someone you love.
