About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

Canning is a basic survival need and harvesting your own produce and canning it brings a sense of pride that I want to share with you! On this day after you arrive in a small group, we'll go out and harvest fresh green beans from my garden. We'll wash, trim, cut and stuff the beans into sanitized pint jars and then pressure can them. The jars you process will be the jars you take home. While our beans are processing in the canner, we'll go out and pick fresh honeycrisp apples from our trees right here on the farm. We'll wash and process and make the best darn applesauce you've ever had - and then can it via a waterbath canner. I will share some basic canning tips and all my recipes! I will also feed you some of my homesteading goodness - snacking our way through lunch! Bottled water and soda will be provided, feel free to bring your own beverage too, wine is allowed! It will be a great day, learning, laughing and eating some delicious foods. Each person will take home 3 pints of green beans and a quart of applesauce - all fresh from the farm and processed by YOU! You will also take home knowledge and recipes galore! I have canning books you can make copies from and I will share my own recipes as well. I'm really looking forward to this day and hope you can join me!

Refunds available with advanced notice, minus 3rd party small ticket fee.
