By now you probably heard about Salesforce restrictions on travel and events in light of the escalating COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak around the world. At Salesforce, nothing is more important than the health and safety of our customers, partners, and employees. Over the last few weeks, we have been closely monitoring the evolving situation with the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak to ensure we are taking every precaution to look after our community.

After careful consideration, and in light of the recent mandates by Salesforce, we’ve made the painful decision to cancel the in-person Community Sprint planned for March 30-April 1 in Atlanta, GA.

We feel this is the right decision guided by our values and ensures we are doing what’s right for our customers, partners, and employees. Our next in-person Community Sprint is still scheduled for August 10th - 12th in Seattle, WA, and we currently have every expectation it will proceed as planned. Please note, we will continue to watch the progression and continue to update our community for any additional changes.

We will make every effort to have the first Community Sprint of 2021 in Atlanta, GA. Like you, we’re so disappointed to miss our chance to innovate in that incredible city. If you have a reservation at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Atlanta, we are working directly with the hotel on cancellation and we will be in contact with you on the next steps to cancel your specific reservation by early next week.

While the in-person Sprint for Atlanta 2020 has been canceled, it doesn't have to end there. Please join us in the Open Source Commons & Community Sprints group in the Hub to engage with us on what this might look like as a digital experience.

What's an Open Source Community Sprint?

It's all about our amazing community! If you are active in the Power of US Hub (https://www.salesforce.org/help/power-of-us-hub/), then you know it’s a place where you can ask questions and get answers, join and create groups, and connect with people and influencers from the nonprofit, higher ed and K-12 user community. Sprints are the physical embodiment of what happens in the Power of US Hub - people helping people and making connections in-person. During the event, the community of admins, implementation partners, app partners, and developers will come together with a common goal of making the ecosystem around our open source products better for everyone else (lots of laughs and caffeine included too).

The goal of the Community Sprint is simple: making the most of your contribution. Create something impactful that can be shared with everyone in some capacity. It's an unconference format style event. What exactly that contribution is depends on who is attending and what skills they bring.

Day 1: Optional CumulusCI Hands-On-Training Day (March 30th)

Join us for a day of learning! This year we are planning on hosting even more CCI hands-on-training on March 30th, before the main sprinting kicks off on the 31st. Exact start/end times are TBD but will at minimum be a half day. This training is designed for open source community members of all technical levels who are looking for hands-on experience using CumulusCI, and understand how it can be used at their organization. To participate in the training and prep-homework, you will need to bring a Laptop on which you have admin permissions.
The full agenda and specific class details will be sent once finalized, but please plan your travel accommodations accordingly.

Day 2 & 3: Two-day Main Sprint (March 31st - April 1st):

Bring your laptop, your ideas and a collaborative spirit. What will you specifically work on? That’s up to you! If you are expecting to be talked at all day while you stare at PowerPoint slides, this is not the event for you. You will decided what you work on and how you do it is decided by you and your fellow attendees at the Sprint.

Who should attend: The short answer is, everyone! Sprints are inclusive events and all are welcome. Why? Because every voice is crucial, and no contribution is too small. Our approaches and decisions to common problems are most effective when informed by diversity and inclusivity and we know that great ideas come from unexpected or quiet voices.

System Admins, Users, Developers, and Consulting and ISV Partners who have:

Comfortable experience using our open source products (NPSP, EDA, Volunteers for Salesforce)
Customized Salesforce and our open source products (NPSP, EDA, Volunteers for Salesforce)
A Power of Us Hub profile, and is comfortable sharing ideas, answering questions, making suggestions in the community
A GitHub Account (don't worry, we'll show you how to use GitHub if you've never used it before)
A laptop

Hotel Registration Information:

Be sure to book your hotel room at Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead before the discounted room block expires or sells out. We have a guaranteed room block at a nightly rate of $139 USD per night, with available check-in starting on Thursday March 26th to accommodate pre-sprint weekend stays! ** There is limited availability with that price block on Thursday/Friday before the Sprint. If earlier dates are sold out, you can book a combination of regular nightly and group rates via phone.
