Timothy Tilghman is pleased to premiere a new PowerPoint presentation to discuss the Cute Beatle, ‘Can You Take Me Back - Backwards Traveler: Paul McCartney’. Beatles fans will enjoy attending this Fab fact-packed presentation covering McCartney’s eight-decade career. There’s so much more to learn about the Beatles as the lads rocketed to the Toppermost of the Poppermost.
Paul McCartney was introduced to John Lennon by Ivan Vaughn at Saint Peter’s Church in Woolton Parish on July 6, 1957. Lennon was performing on stage with his skiffle group The Quarrymen and the two Liverpudlians met afterwards. McCartney impressed Lennon by playing “Twenty Flight Rock” and was subsequently invited to join the band. McCartney introduced George Harrison to Lennon who auditioned by playing the “Raunchy” solo on a double decker bus in 1958. Lennon accepted Harrison into the fold.
The three lads formed a tight trio and began an association that would see them progress as musicians renamed as The Beatles while en route to Hamburg in August 1960. Amazingly, the guitar trio recorded “Summertime” with Lu Walters on vocals and bass plus Ringo Starr on drums. Both Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best would exit the fledgling Fabs with Starr joining the Fab Four permanently on August 16, 1962. After The Beatles disbanded, McCartney would form Wings with guitarist Denny Laine in 1971.
