About this event

We welcome all university students interested in or curious about the ways in which we can protect the health of people and the planet through effective engagment in intergovernmental processes, governance, and diplomacy.

On August 5-6, join us for a unique, innovative, skills building workshop designed to empower and equip you, as current and future leaders, to delve into these topics and work towards meaningful action. Co-hosted by the Global Health Governance as Public Service (GHGAPS) Program, the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health at Sunway University, and Monash University, this program will challenge your thinking, introduce you to new topics, and allow you to explore your strengths in a supportive environment.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to attend both days of the workshop?

As Day 2 will build off of many of the skills covered in Day 1, it is strongly recommended that you attend both full days of the workshop. However, if you cannot attend both days and would like to register for just one, please contact gughgaps@gmail.com.

Do I need to study climate or health to attend?

No. This workshop will explore diplomacy and intergovernmental spaces with a focus on climate change and health, but many of the skills and lessons will be applicable to other fields.

Why should I attend this workshop?

To explore what skills may be helpful as a future diplomat, learn more about intergovernmental processes as they relate to climate change and health, and become more confident in your research, presentation, and group dynamics skills. This two-day workshop will be an immersive way to learn!

What is Global Health Governance as Public Service (GHGAPS)?

Global Health Governance as Public Service was originally launched by two students at Georgetown University to promote youth-led engagement at the World Health Assembly. It has since been adapted to a broader multilateral context with a focus on planetary health. Learn more at the workshop!
