Tri-Tip is the moniker and lifestyle of Denver-based DJ Scotty Walker Koen. Focused on music, fun, food, and comfort, he walks a cultural line few dare to: one which stands between jam bands and house/techno. Funky house is the glue that ties his unique blend of indie-dance, familiar hip-hop, and classic funk/soul together. In the club, his mixes tend to be a tad more calculated, where that funky house glue binds everything from disco to acid to techno into sets that are as diverse as they are fun. In private situation he caters to his room, which can often involve some unexpectedly welcome genre shifts.
Residencies at Park Vibes and Knew Conscious, as well as performances at Cervantes, Bar Standard, Ophelia’s, Larimer Lounge Vinyl, Beanstalk, and Color Field have made Tri-Tip a household name in Denver. He's shared the bill with the likes of The Magician, Orchard Lounge, Hercules & the Love Affair, DJ Dan, SkiiTour, Chris Malinchak, Luke the Knife, Goldroom, Ash Lauryn, and provided vibes at instrumental-based shows including the Disco Biscuits, the New Deal, Magic Beans, Yak Attack, Dopapod, and more.
