Did you know that California is home to over 1,600 species of native bees? The majority are actually quite docile and don't even sting! These often-overlooked pollinators play an essential role in sustaining our ecosystems, and many rely on native plants for food and shelter. From the tiniest fairy bees to the fluffiest bumblebees and everything in between. In this class, we’ll dive into the incredible world of California’s cute and busy bees—exploring their lifecycles, nesting habits, and the unique relationships they share with our local flora. Which will you spot in your own home gardens?
We’ll learn tips about bee-friendly habitats - whether in a backyard, the park, or your balcony.
