Sigalle Michael, Burlingame’s Sustainability Program Manager, will give an update on Burlingame's progress on its Climate Action Plan, and Vanessa Shin of Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE), will describe incentives for transitioning to clean energy at a program on Tuesday, October 21. Hosted by the Citizens Environmental Council, it will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Burlingame Community Center at 850 Burlingame Ave. Admission is free, but registration is requested at https://bit.ly/BurlingameClimate.
Sigalle will outline steps Burlingame has taken to eliminate carbon emissions and discuss city rebates on solar panels, leaf blowers, water-efficient landscaping and rain barrels. Vanessa will explain how residents can benefit from PCE’s rebates, low-cost financing and personalized support by adopting clean energy. PCE’s incentives are available for electric appliances, electric heating and cooling systems, electric vehicles, e-bikes and more. There will be plenty of time for questions.
Burlingame was one of the first cities in San Mateo County to adopt a Climate Action Plan (CAP). The city reached 100% of its 10-year goals in its first CAP, adopted in 2009. Attaining the goals in its latest CAP will be more challenging.
The Citizens Environmental Council’s mission is to champion regional sustainability through education, advocate for environmental and climate policies, and empower young environmental leaders. For more information, visit cecburlingame.org or email info@cecburlingame.org.
