Join us in person for an energizing and hands-on workshop designed to spark collaboration, creativity, and community power! Together, we’ll explore how San José’s arts and cultural organizations, local leaders, and residents can strengthen public will for the arts.
Through interactive activities, storytelling, and small group strategy sessions, participants will:
- Discover what “public will” really means and why it matters for the arts
- Learn practical tools for communicating the value of creativity to diverse audiences
- Connect with fellow changemakers across neighborhoods, disciplines, and organizations
- Co-create ideas for amplifying the WeCreate408 campaign and future creative actions
Whether you’re an artist, nonprofit leader, educator, or community advocate, this workshop is your chance to be part of a growing movement that celebrates creativity as essential to San José’s identity and resilience. Come ready to share, listen, and imagine what’s possible when we build together.
Creativity is Power – Express Yourself
Join WeCreate408, the free, online creativity challenge, inspiring and celebrating San José.
As part of Arts, Culture, and Creativity Month, the Office of Cultural Affairs launched WeCreate408 in 2021. WeCreate408 is a month-long online challenge to inspire creativity and celebrate San José’s rich and diverse arts and culture. The Office of Cultural Affairs partnered with dozens San José arts organizations, businesses, and community groups on this initiative. The public is invited to sign up at WeCreate408.org to receive creative prompts in April for creative actions to do on their own and suggestions for creative activities around San José.
People can take part at their own pace or whenever they feel inspired. Each prompt is open to interpretation. Everyone is welcome to participate; you don’t need to consider yourself an “artist” to take part. We encourage you to share your responses to the creative prompts on social media by using the hashtag #WeCreate408.
