Engage36 Workshop: Fixing What's Broken
Why Engage36?
Because the system is broken—and no one knows that better than us. Too often, decisions are made about the justice-impacted community instead of with us. Engage36 flips the script.
This workshop brings together justice-impacted leaders and individuals, alongside labor partners and elected allies, to build the coalition we need for real change. We are leading the way—setting the agenda, creating solutions, and building power that lasts.
What’s this workshop about?
This is our space to bring our voices, experiences, and leadership forward. Together, we will:
- Connect and organize with others who share our lived experiences.
- Access opportunities for jobs, training, and union pathways.
- Shape the vision for how Engage36 grows in our state and across the country.
- Identify barriers we face—and the solutions we know will work.
- Step into leadership roles to carry this work into our neighborhoods, workplaces, and civic life.
Why it matters
We are not just participants—we are the leaders. Our lived experience with the criminal legal system makes us the experts on what needs to change. When justice-impacted people lead, we don’t just repair broken systems—we build new ones rooted in fairness, opportunity, and dignity.
What you’ll walk away with
- A network of justice-impacted peers ready to take action together.
- Skills and tools to organize, advocate, and lead.
- Pathways into good jobs, unions, and civic opportunities.
- The chance to be part of a national movement where our leadership drives the change.
Who should come?
If you’ve been directly impacted by the criminal legal system—or if your family, friends, or community have—this movement needs your leadership.
