Building Lasting Family Relationships Part 3

Strengthening the Bond and Building Collaboration Across Caregiving Styles and Culture

Explore how personal goals, values, cultural dynamics, and lived experiences shape caregiving choices—and how opposing perspectives can unintentionally fuel conflict. Caring for and educating young children naturally brings together adults with diverse styles, backgrounds, and approaches. When these differences aren’t addressed constructively, they can create tension, strain relationships, and limit our ability to positively impact children. In this session, you’ll learn a clear, respectful process for discussing concerns and working through differences in ways that empower families and ensure everyone feels heard, respected, and valued. You’ll also discover collaborative language and practical strategies that foster alignment among parents, coworkers, and leaders, increasing the likelihood that families stay engaged and “on your team,” even during difficult conversations or disagreements about child-rearing practices.

For this 2-hour Zoom meeting, you will view a PowerPoint presentation and presenter on the webcam while participating in chats and activities that help you apply the concepts to your environment.

Learning Objectives

• Describe a cooperative and effective conflict resolution technique to use with families when differences in providing care and education come up.

• Considers the influence of cultural heritage on the values, decisions, and behavior of self and others.
