Build Your Own Website 2-Part Series: Wix Web Design for Small Businesses
Overview
This two-part beginner-friendly series teaches small business owners and entrepreneurs how to create and maintain their own professional website using Wix.com and affordable pre-made templates. Designed for true DIYers, the class breaks down each step of the website-building process in a clear, accessible way—perfect for self-funded startups who need a high-quality online presence without the cost of hiring a designer.
In Part 1, attendees will learn what Wix is, why it’s an ideal platform for beginners, and the real-life costs associated with launching a website. They’ll explore essential website pages, branding basics, SEO-friendly copywriting, social media considerations, and how to choose and upload templates from Etsy or the Wix Template Store. Participants will also begin developing their brand assets using Canva and leave with structured homework to prepare for the hands-on second session.
Part 2 is a guided working session where attendees bring their laptops and build their websites step-by-step inside Wix, customizing their template with their branding, content, logos, and page structure. By the end of the series, each participant will have a functional, personalized website foundation and the knowledge to continue refining and managing their site with confidence.
Classes take place on Wednesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
