Build Your Own Vase - Hand Building Pottery Workshop

Celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with a creative escape to the studio. In this 2-hour class, you'll learn the slab and coiling method to handbuild your own ceramic vase — no experience necessary.

We'll guide you through shaping and smoothing your form, and after class we'll take care of glazing and firing your piece. Your finished vase will be ready for pickup or shipping (at cost) in about 4–6 weeks.

It's a perfect way to slow down, get your hands dirty, and make something beautiful.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any experience to take this class?

Not at all! Our classes are beginner-friendly unless otherwise noted. No prior experience with clay is required.

What should I wear?

We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy. For wheel classes, flat shoes are best (heels make it hard to control the pedal), and short nails help with shaping the clay. Avoid wearing rings, bracelets, or watches if possible.

What do I need to bring?

We provide all materials, tools, and aprons. Just bring yourself and a good attitude.

Where are you located?

We’re inside the Fuller Building at: ? 45 Pine Grove Ave, Kingston, NY 12401 The building is directly across from the YMCA. Free parking is available — just follow the ramp next to the YMCA to reach the lot. Once inside the building, walk straight to the back and follow the signs for L’Impatience.

What happens to my piece after class?

Your work will be glazed and fired by our team and ready for pickup in about 4–6 weeks. We’ll notify you by email when it’s ready. Shipping is also available for an additional fee.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Full payment is required to reserve your spot. We do not offer refunds under any circumstances, including after the class begins. If you need to cancel, you may request a credit (valid for 6 months) only if you notify us in writing at least one week before the workshop. Rescheduling is allowed once
