How do I know if my chemistry meets prerequisite requirements?

An organic chemistry course must be completed within the past 7 years--RIC's  CHEM 106 or an equivalent course from an accredited school. The min. grade requirement is a C but the SJHSNA Admissions Committee prefers a B or better. Send a course description/syllabus to kmisto@ric.edu for evaluation.

How long is your program?

The RIC/SJHSNA program is 36 months, Full-time, 91 credit hours.  There is no part-time option.

Where are classes held?

Classes are held at the RI Nursing Education Center in downtown Providence.  Clinicals are held are various hospitals in RI and MA, requiring RN licensure in both.

Question 7

Do I need to have my RI and MA licenses at time of application?

Accepted Answer

A valid, unrestricted RN license in your current state of practice is required at the time of application. Prior to clinical, which begins in the 2nd year of the program, you will need to have both RI and MA RN licenses (or a multi-state license that includes these).

How much does the program cost?

Is an interview required and can it be done via phone or zoom?

An in-person interview is required.  All interviews are conducted in one day and cannot be rescheduled.  The current interview date is TBD but projected to be around September of 2026. The date will be posted when determined.

Do I need to take statistics prior to applying to the program?

No.  A graduate level statistics course is built into our program and will be completed in your first semester, if accepted.

Do you require the GRE or MAT?

No, we do not require any testing for our program.

Electronic transcripts are preferred and should be sent to: graduatenursing@ric.edu. Be sure to list ALL schools attended on your application or email graduate nursing with a list of schools attended if you cannot fit all of them in the application.  This will help us in locating all transcripts.
