About this event

Music • Indie

We are absolutely delighted to be bringing Ulster guitar wizards JUNK DRAWER to Newbridge for our first show, with excellent support from the recently reignited THE COMSTOCKS to boot!

Junk Drawer

Junk Drawer are Brian Coney (bass/keys), Rory Dee (drums/guitar/vocals) and siblings Stevie (vocals/guitar) and Jake Lennox (vocals/guitar/drums). Their second album ‘Days Of Heaven’ (Pizza Pizza Records, June 2025) adds new levels of depth and clarity to an already signature sound. Following their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Ready For The House’ (Art For Blind, 2020) and 2022’s crucial stepping-stone EP ‘The Dust Has Come To Stay’, ‘Days of Heaven’ is very much the product of four crate-digging music lovers with open ears and a genuine open-minded approach in their process. It is also the outworkings of rural Ulster strangeness, the provinces’ many lost futures, and the harmony & discordance of a sibling creative partnership. A potent cocktail.

Recorded over seven days at The Meadow Studios in Wicklow with producer Chris Ryan (Robocobra Quartet, Just Mustard, NewDad), ‘Days Of Heaven’ underlines a new moment for the band – one of deep understanding of each other and a sublime confidence in their craft. This is a band who have reached maturity without losing any of that “early-stuff” magic.

Mixing the influence of Pavement with kraut and post-punk à-la Fat White Family, Junk Drawer show how to move on in style from neo-psych, despite not renouncing, subtly permeating the 7-minute jam with ethereal and lysergic vibes

So Young

A rambling rocker travelling down winding roads of guitar

Stereogum

Their warm, fuzzy indie-rock edge makes for a familiarity that does not sound stale. Junk Drawer is an apt name for their hodgepodge of influences, but is not an indicator of their quality in the slightest.

Paste Magazine

Tears In Costa is a charming instrumental, winsome jangles of guitar and looping riffs, taken to the next level by Stevie Lennox’s delightfully emotive vocal. It’s hard not to get swept up.

The Comstocks

The Comstocks are a band from Newbridge in Co. Kildare, Ireland. Originally performing under the moniker ‘Fresco Future’, the band released their debut singles 'Morning Mourning / Maybe Ellie' and also played at the 10th annual Didsbury Beer festival in Manchester 2017, supporting Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley. However, with the solidified lineup of Cormac Dowdall, Evan Lynch, Dillan Hughes, and Conall Ó Maoláin, the band decided a fresh start was needed. ‘The Comstocks’ take a more stylistically aware approach to the process of creating music, recruiting long-time friend and cinematographer Alec Delaney to take control of the visual side of the band.
