This virtual workshop is two half days. It is designed to reframe our understanding of challenging behaviors by examining how energy regulation skillset influences an individual’s capacity to navigate their day, particularly when difficulties are encountered. Factors influencing and means of supporting energy regulation are explored from both a first-person autistic perspective, as well as developmental perspective. Practical guidelines for providing supports for energy regulation to increase connectedness and active engagement in a variety of contexts will be highlighted!

Strategies for supporting individuals across the lifespan and at different developmental levels will be discussed. A focus will be placed on supporting autisitic and neurodivergent individuals, but the tools have applicability for facilitating engagement for a wide range of people.

Please note that these sessions are live and will start at 4:00 am Eastern Daylight Time (NYC) / 4:00pm Perth / 6:00pm Melbourne. There will be 2 sessions for this training. They will be recorded and registered participants will have access to the recordings for 3 weeks following the live events. Our virtual format is interactive and participants will have the opportunity share ideas, ask questions, and learn from one another throughout the day.

This course is appropriate for autistic people, educators, therapists, parents, carers, researchers, & students.

Autism Level UP!

A partnership of two developmental psychologists, one autistic and the other allistic. Our philosophy is that through education, accessible resources, practical strategies and acommitment to consistently incorporating the experiences and perspectives of autistic people, wecan support the leveling up of society when it comes to autism and neurodiversity. Of course, ourprimary goal is to support autistic individuals, but the more we are able to spread real awareness andsupport others in moving from awareness to acceptance, acceptance to appreciation, appreciationto empowerment and from empowerment to advocacy, the more positive change we will see atthose large institutional and societal levels that can greatly benefit the autistic community. So we doaim first and foremost to empower autistic individuals to navigate their world, but we also aim tomake the world a more autism-friendly environment and the universe more accommodating to theneurodiverse - after all,it is a partnership and change should not rest solely on the shoulders of theautistic community.
