Part of the Do the Things that Matter! Campaign by the 3rd Ward Real Estate Council

Houston is growing fast, but too many neighborhoods lack attainable housing, quality local businesses, and thoughtful development. As part of the Do the Things that Matter! campaign, the 3rd Ward Real Estate Council is launching the inaugural Bridge to Action Small Scale Developer Program—a pioneering effort to equip a new wave of developers committed to revitalizing communities through small-scale, people-centered projects.

This virtual interest meeting is your chance to learn more and be among the first to apply before registration closes.

Who This Is For

We’re seeking individuals who want to be part of a collaborative community of doers, including but not limited to:

  • Realtors & emerging developers
  • Urban planners & urbanists
  • Architects, designers & contractors
  • Lenders, investors & financial professionals
  • Nonprofit leaders & community stakeholders

If you’re passionate about creating attainable housing, strengthening local economies, and reimagining underutilized spaces—this is for you.

Why Bridge to Action Matters

Houston operates without traditional zoning, creating both opportunities and challenges in building walkable, connected neighborhoods. The Bridge to Action Small Scale Developer Program fills a vital gap by offering training, mentorship, and real project experience to individuals who want to lead change from within their communities.

Participants will work on a real 5,000 sq. ft. corner lot, positioned as a model for trail-oriented, neighborhood-scale development—showing what’s possible when design, community, and practicality come together.

What to Expect at the Interest Meeting

  • Program Overview: How the 9-month accelerator and 5-year developer pipeline works
  • Support & Resources: Mentorship, technical guidance, development tools, and pathways to capital
  • Curriculum Foundations: Built on principles of urbanism, APA’s Housing Accelerator Playbook, and Brookings Institution research
  • Application Process: Eligibility, deadlines, and what makes a strong candidate
  • Exclusive Benefit: Attendees receive a discount on the program application fee

Why Now

Space in the inaugural cohort is limited. Be among the first to apply before registration closes and help shape a more attainable, resilient, and community-centered future for Houston.
