Brewing Ideas with UF/IFAS Extension

Brewing Ideas is a relaxed, idea-rich evening at Calusa Brewing, led by UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County. Join Extension experts and neighbors to explore practical, locally relevant solutions, share questions, and spark collaborations. We promise you will leave inspired, connected with neighbors, and ready collaborate with research-backed, ready-to-use tips.

This month's environmental topics will focus on wildlife issues and solutions in Sarasota County. This will include dolphin research, nature-based solutions, volunteer opportunities, and UF/IFAS educational programs.

This month's featured speaker:

Dr. Katherine McHugh

• Senior Scientist, Deputy Program Director - Sarasota Dolphin Research Program (SDRP)

Dr. Katie McHugh is employed by the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago and is based at Mote Marine Laboratory. Dr. McHugh is the Deputy Program Director of SDRP. SDRP is widely recognized as a leading marine mammal research group. Dr. McHugh will present on SDRP research on our local population of bottlenose dolphins, sharing fascinating facts about this charismatic marine mammal and how you can help protect this magnificent species.

Armando J. Ubeda

• Florida Sea Grant, UF/IFAS, University of Florida

Armando will be presenting about nature-based solutions— green infrastructure like living shorelines that mitigate erosion, enhance biodiversity, and build more resilient communities.
