Should I have some sort of breathing knowledge or experience to attend this workshop ?

This workshop is for all levels. We will be going over basics as well as intermediate skills and so people of all levels will benefit from this workshop.

Question 2

Is it necessary that I attend all 3 days of the workshop?

Accepted Answer

Yes, specific breathing skills will be taught on all 3 days of the retreat/ workshop. Please plan on attending all three days. However, we do understand if there are emergencies in which case we will do our best to accommodate you.

Question 3

Is this similar to yoga ?

Accepted Answer

Though yoga does have breathing exercises, the instructor hasn't been trained in Yoga. Her experience comes from athletics, specifically climbing mountains. The methods that have influenced her way of teaching are the Wim Hof Method, Buteyko and Oxygen Advantage.

Question 4

I regularly do the Jesus prayer - will I benefit from this workshop ?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely ! As St Paul said - "The physical comes first, then the spiritual" (Corinthians 15:46) - we will learn about the biomechanics and biochemistry changes in our body when we breathe a certain way, and how by tweaking the way we breathe we can change our state of mind.

Can this help me with anxiety and stress ?

Accepted Answer

Breathing correctly is one of the best ways to manage anxiety and stress. This workshop goes over various physical and mental benefits. It also touches on the spiritual benefits of being able to sit in silence and experience the presence of God in our hearts.

Question 6

I am a little nervous since I am unsure of what to expect. Is it normal for me to feel this way ?

Accepted Answer

It is normal to experience some level of anxiety over trying something new. Do not hesitate to invite your friends and family to engage in this workshop with you. Breathing as a family unit allows for a deeper connection since you can do the exercises together as well.

Question 7

How much time do I need to set aside to breathe every day as an exercise ?

Accepted Answer

The goal is to transform each and every breath that you take. Eventually you will not set any time aside but make it a part of your lifestyle. "Do small things with great love"- Mother Teresa. I pray that by the end of the retreat, you have the skills to breathe every breath with great love.
