About this event
Come and join us at Hornbeam Community Cafe for an evening of fun and safe socialising!
We will have areas set up with board games, arts and crafts, and conversation prompts to help us all connect :).
This month we will also have a special table set up for zine-making and collaging, if you feel like getting creative! Materials will be provided but feel free to bring any old magazines, books, postcards, newspapers, etc. you have lying around for cutting and sticking! Participation is completely optional.
If you would like to take part in zine-making and aren't able to bring any materials, if within your budget we'd really appreciate if you could add a £2 donation to your ticket for this event just to help us cover the cost of materials. If you are bringing your own materials, either to use just yourself or to share with the group then no additional donation is needed (unless you're feeling generous!) :).
FFP2/3 masks and proof of a negative test are required on arrival (and provided). This event will last for 3 hours.
Attendees are welcome to ask organisers for an introduction to any group to break the ice.
After 20-30 minutes, we will invite guests to switch to a different activity or take a break if they wish, though this will not be required.
Standing will not be required for any portion of this event.
If you have any additional access needs (e.g. BSL interpreter, lip reading masks, etc.) or questions about the event, please email breatheeasyldn@gmail.com.
We are specifically welcoming:
- Disabled people (4x higher COVID mortality rate)
- People of colour (32% long COVID rate)
- Women (36% long COVID rate)
- Trans people (48% long COVID rate)
- Neurodivergent people (30% long COVID rate)
- People with HIV (58% long COVID rate)
or anyone else at increased risk (or those who don't want to spread such a disease to the greater London community).
Governments and the public have decided to abandon infection control and endanger those around them, putting already-marginalised communities at risk of Long COVID, social isolation, and death.
We want to create spaces for people to socialise, find community, and have fun without putting themselves or others at risk of damage to their immune, cardiovascular, or nervous systems.
Pricing
This event is free/pay-what-you-can (recommended donation of £6). No profit is being made as 100% of donations will go towards putting on more COVID-safe events in London. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. You can find a full breakdown of our running costs at www.gofundme.com/f/covidsafeldn.
Covid safety at the event
Attendees will be greeted and asked to provide photo proof of a negative COVID test in the last 24 hours.
If attendees don't have the opportunity to take one beforehand, they will be provided and asked to take them away from the group.
After confirming negative tests, attendees will be provided an FFP2/3 mask (if they do not have their own) and invited to socialise with other attendees at various activity areas(board games, arts and crafts, conversation prompts, etc.).
For everyone's safety, please do not attend the event if you are unwell or have any unusual symptoms, especially signs or symptoms of respiratory illness such as a sore throat, runny nose, fever, etc. We can provide a refund on your donation at any time in the lead up to the event if you contact breatheeasyldn@gmail.com.
