The Breakthrough Parenting Curriculum (BPC): Navigating Trauma Across Generations is a 10-module course designed for parents who have experienced trauma, are parenting children impacted by trauma, or might be at risk of involvement with child protective services. This program provides a supportive environment where parents can explore the effects of trauma on themselves and their children, while gaining skills, strategies, and a sense of community aimed at fostering understanding, healing, hope, and growth.

This program runs for 10 consecutive Friday's that build knowledge from each session!

BUILDING KNOWLEDGE AND SUPPORT FOR PARENTS

Parenting kids who have experienced trauma is one of the toughest and most rewarding roles. This 10 part trauma-informed workshop will provide parents with insight on how to better address their child's needs. This program provides information for parents about the impact of trauma on themselves and their children while offering skills, strategies, and a community for understanding, healing, hope and growth.

The first couple of session will focus on:

  • Learning about self care and offering yourself grace and compassion
  • Learning what trauma is
  • Exploring the possible trauma you have experienced

The next couple of sessions will focus on:

  • The effects of trauma
  • How your trauma or childhood influenced your parenting
  • Learning to cope with feelings and address behaviors

The last couple of sessions will focus on:

  • Addressing your child's possible trauma
  • Connecting and healing with your children
  • Teaching your children how to cope with trauma and grow their emotional intelligence
  • Incorporating positive relationships, advocacy, and emtoional regualtion into their parenting

Caregivers who successfully complete the series will receive a gift card incentive provided by the Sophia Center. Gift card value and distribution upon program completion will be determined by the Sophia Center.
