BreakfastInMotion: Behind the Code — Intelligence, Interaction & Innovation

By MotionLab.Berlin

Overview

Kickstart your morning at BreakfastinMotion—where startups, entrepreneurs, and creatives come together to connect, share, and grow.

Join us at BreakfastInMotion — a morning of insight, connection and community with the MotionLab.Berlin ecosystem. Over fresh coffee, breakfast and open networking, we’ll dive into three unique perspectives on how creativity, engineering, and intelligent systems are shaping the future of interactive technology.

This edition brings together three innovators working across immersive art, large-scale technical installations, and AI systems with real-world impact. From multimedia worlds and kinetic engineering to autonomous systems for some of the harshest environments on earth — expect a morning filled with inspiration, interdisciplinary exchange, and a closer look at how ideas become reality.

Nicholas Perillo — Founder, AUGMENTL Studio & Head of Technology Portals

Nicholas Perillo is an award-winning artist and designer from Melbourne, Australia, and the founder of AUGMENTL Studio, where he creates immersive multimedia artworks that merge cutting-edge technology with visceral artistic experience. His journey from traditional product design into speculative, boundary-pushing art led to the creation of the original MORPH prototype and, more recently, his work on project Portals, a global initiative turning digital archives and collective memory into living, interactive experiences. At BreakfastInMotion, Nick will share his latest projects and an inside look at the evolving world of tech-driven art.

Philipp Helldorfer — Founder, Helldorfer Engineering

Mechanical engineer Philipp Helldorfer brings deep expertise in mechanical systems, product development, and large-scale media technology. After early technical experience at Bosch, work on industrial 3D printers at BigRep, and six years developing kinetic winch systems at WHITEvoid (featured in shows like ABBA Voyage London and Dark Matter Berlin), Phil founded Helldorfer Engineering — a flexible network of specialists building complex media art installations and innovative physical products. He will speak about recent engineering projects, his approach to large-format technical creation, and his collaboration with Nick on Portals.

Frederik Wegner — Founder, Cerepal AI

Frederik Wegner is the founder of Cerepal AI, a company building autonomous, AI-powered systems for some of the world’s harshest environments. Currently focused on intelligent demining technology, Cerepal AI develops solutions that bring machine intelligence into real-world scenarios where reliability and safety are critical. Frederik will share insights into autonomy in extreme conditions, the challenges of deploying AI outside controlled environments, and will give a live demo of the Cerepal system.
