The single most important determinant of a person’s economic opportunity in life is the country in which they were born. Right now, due to shifting circumstances and policies, we can change that – and you can help.
Labor Mobility Partnerships (LaMP) is gathering on Oct 28 at 8am for breakfast and conversation at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco (right next door to SOCAP!) and we hope you will join us. We’ll share more about our work to unlock the power of a globally mobile youth workforce.
The Scene: Africa and South Asia generate the world's youth population growth today – with each year, between 10 and 12 million African youth entering the workforce where only 3 million jobs are created. Simultaneously, high-income countries are coping with labor shortages. Unfilled jobs are costing the global economy $3-7 Billion USD per day. Today these challenges can add up to solutions that put the power back into the worker, and to the Global South.
The Solution: With the creation of a professional, economically efficient and just global labor mobility industry – that can support worker training and movement – people will safely migrate to work for years at a time, but return home, with profits and new skills. This will result in hundreds of millions of people earning enough to set their families on entirely new economic trajectories.
Join us. We’re seeking economic justice and opportunity for all – but this is a critically underfunded space for both investments and philanthropy. Please join us for this important conversation and learn more about the vast opportunities that exist to make a difference for livelihoods around the world.
