Event description

Description

Breach of Peace is an interactive, one-act play by Mike Wiley that shares stories of the 1961 Freedom Riders. Men and women, black and white, young and old, the riders aimed to end racially segregated bus, train and air travel. And they did.

Wiley, the solo actor, plays all the roles and is accompanied by Gospel vocalist Jennifer Evans.

Various audience members will be invited to join Wiley on stage during the play. A talk-back follows the performance.

North Carolina Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green will give a reading before the play begins. Doors open at 6:30.

Mike Wiley is a nationally praised playwright and actor known for his intensively researched, brilliantly crafted and movingly acted plays. Most of his plays explore Civil Rights history.
