Branching Out: Drawing Winter Trees

Join me for an online drawing workshop focusing on winter trees. Now that the leaves have fallen, we have an opportunity to look at the skeletal forms of trees. These complex structures provide rich inspiration for the artist, but can be intimidating. This workshop will guide you through a series of exercises which will teach you how to depict winter trees in all their beauty.

We'll experiment with different techniques; from measured drawing through to more expressive, gestural mark making. Over the course of the workshop you'll develop skills in depicting volume, working with light and shade and creating texture.

Suitable for beginner drawers through to artists looking for a creative refresh.

This workshop will take place on Zoom. There will be opportunities throughout to ask questions and receive feedback.

Please bring along:

Cartridge paper (A4 or larger)

Pencil

Charcoal

Eraser

Sharpener

Optional: a branch or twig to draw. I will also have photos we can work from if you can't easily access this.
