This class is offered to children 8 yrs old and up who have experienced foster care, kinship, adoption, or been reunified with parents.
There are many kids that have trauma that are in foster care that experienced abuse or have extreme emotions from what happened to them. This boxing class not only shows them how to do the sport, but it helps them build self-esteem. Physical activity in a safe environment helps them to work out all that stress. Not to mention the community of others in their situation helps them have better connections with the community and friendships.
Our boxing class is offered every other Sunday at Smokyhill Library from 1pm-2:30pm. This class is also in conjunction with our Art Expression class and Support group for parents. Parents of the kids in boxing do not need to be a part of the support group for their kids to participate.
