About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join us after work on Friday 15th August at Boscombe Pier for a beach clean!

We will be maximising the positive impact we can have by completing a Beach Clean Litter survey, collecting data on the rubbish we find and reporting to the Marine Conservation Society. This data is used for international scientific research and to campaign for positive change 📊

We will also be sorting the rubbish, separating out the plastic to be recycled locally at Circular11 ♻️ The plastic collected will be weighted and converted into ‘Plastic Points’, which will add up to Circular11’s Community Collection Goals. The current target is 175 plastic points, which will trigger a donation of Circular11’s hand-made plastic benches to the Stable Family Home Trust, who support people with learning disabilities to live a more independent life.

We hope through these events to bring together an amazing group of local legends who are passionate about the environment and supporting their community 💛

Who Can Join: Everyone is welcome! Children must be supervised by an adult.

What to Bring: Be prepared for the British summer and keep an eye on the weather forecast 🌞 We recommend suncream, sunglasses, and a hat (hopefully the sun will be shining on us!). A rain jacket or jumper may also be necessary; we will be out rain or shine! Please wear suitable footwear to protect your feet from any sharp objects buried in the sand. A reusable water bottle, hand sanitiser and your own gloves are also recommended.

Provided: We will provide all the necessary equipment for volunteers to use during the litter pick. Including Waterhauls' amazing Ocean Positive Litter Pickers, hoops and collection bags. We will also bring copies of the Marine Conservation Society's data sheet to fill in. We have some gloves, but please bring your own if you have them!
