We are having a free book signing event featuring author Dr. Bennett and her book, The Audacity to Dream Big & Reach Higher.

She shares her journey of growing up in the South during the Jim Crow era, harvesting cotton, losing her mother, being molested, and dropping out of high school by age seventeen. Despite tribulations, she had a firm foundation in Jesus Christ which led her to earning a PhD at age fifty. By age fifty-two she became a successful entrepreneur, serving people in the human service field. She even earned close to one million dollars within her twenty-one years of serving before retiring in two-thousand and nineteen.

Whether you write novels, autobiographies or even poetry, this is your time to tell your story to the world! This is a great opportunity to share your book(s) with more people while also earning revenue by offering guest free book signings with a purchase! To become a guest, choose ticket, "Authors."

The $50 fee will cover your table, two chairs and advertising via flyer. You will have your picture included on the flyer for the event so please send a headshot photo AND a short description of your book. You can send the description to Ru via e-mail RealRuStreet@gmail.com, for editing and then the final copy will be sent to Horatio Bennett for flyer creation.

Frequently asked questions

When is setup time for authors?

Setup will began at 12pm. Saturday August 23rd. We ask that you be there for setup on time at 12pm. You will not be permitted a table after 12:30pm. You may also come early and park before 12 but it is asked that you do not enter the building prior to setup time.

As a vendor, do I have to stay for the entire event?

Yes. It’s important our guest have the BEST experience and that means being ready and available for the entire event.

Where do I park?

You may park in the two parking lots that are right next to the church or on the street. You are only asked NOT to block the driveway to bring your items in. Park in an available parking spot before you empty your car.

Do shoppers have to get a ticket?

No, but it would be greatly appreciated. It helps us with our metrics to provide future events that bring enjoyment and success!

With a strong track record of hosting 7–10 vendors per event, I’ve consistently helped vendors not only recoup their $50 vendor fee but also walk away with profits — many making well over their investment. As a vendor myself, I’ve earned at least $200 at these events, giving me a firsthand understanding of what it takes to create a successful marketplace.

My events typically generate around $500 in total profit, and I’ve successfully hosted themed marketplaces around major holidays, drawing in shoppers and creating a warm, community-centered vibe. I also design and distribute promotional flyers and personally market each event through my growing network to ensure visibility and engagement.
