Joseph Torigian is an Associate Professor at the School of International Service at American University and a Senior Fellow at theCouncil on Foreign Relations. His book, The Party’s Interests Come First, was named a Best Book of 2025 by Foreign Affairs, The Economist, and BBC History Magazine.
