Learning Session Description
In a world where mainstream wellness is often disconnected from politics and systemic challenges, how can we reclaim self-care that nourishes and empowers our activism practice?
This session explores Body Liberation as a powerful framework for transformative self-care—one that centers autonomy, ancestral wisdom, and community well-being. Participants will examine how dominant wellness culture reinforces binary thinking and body hierarchies, and how these narratives often exclude or harm historically marginalized communities. Through reflection, group discussion, and somatic practice, attendees will gain tools to reconnect with their bodies, ground their care in personal truth, and move toward a more liberatory self-care practice.
Participants will walk away with a personalized, sustainable action plan for self-care that not only supports their individual needs but also strengthens their capacity for long-term activism and collective care.
By the end of the session, attendees will be able to:
- Analyze dominant health and wellness narratives and how they uphold hierarchy, perfectionism, and systems of oppression.
- Explore the body as both a site of harm and a source of personal power within historical and current social contexts.
- Apply a body-liberated lens to self-care by incorporating ancestral wisdom, personal experience, and multidimensional definitions of well-being.
- Design a self-care plan that supports sustainable activism and honors personal and collective liberation.
A session recording will be sent to all who register and will be available to view for 6 weeks.

Our pricing model is reflected as follows:
- Tier 1 Pricing is reserved for those who struggle to pay rent and basic bills each month.

- Tier 3 Pricing is reserved for those who can regularly pay rent/their basic bills, make “non-essential” purchases, and still have disposable income left over each month.
About Embody Lib
Despite decades of work to address health inequities, Black, Brown, and Indigenous people of color, collectively referred to as People of the Global Majority, continue to face widening disparities. These inequities are not the result of individual failures, but ongoing systemic neglect, disinvestment, and exclusion.
Mainstream conversations often frame health and well-being as individual responsibilities, overlooking the collective dimensions influenced by the built environment, policies, and other social drivers. Organizations and institutions play a key role in shifting this narrative and shaping the environments, systems, and structures that enable communities to thrive.
Embody Lib works with organizations, institutions, and providers to make optimal health and well-being more inclusive, equitable, and accessible for their staff, leadership, and the communities they serve.
Guided by the founder’s lived experiences, professional expertise, and academic background, Embody Lib offers a range of tools, frameworks, and strategies rooted in weight-inclusive, multidimensional, and interdisciplinary approaches, laying the groundwork for working towards just access to resources and fair opportunities for all.
