Bob Houghtaling Foundation | Community Dinner
Overview
All are welcome to join us for this family-friendly event that will bring community members together for a fun time, a good meal, and a chance to raise funds to support and celebrate local youth and community members!
Donations and sponsorships are welcome and appreciated. If you're unable to attend, you can still donate here. All proceeds go towards continuing the work that the Bob Houghtaling Foundation does to support local youth and families.
This is our annual opportunity to convene with the community, to remember and reminisce about Bob Houghtaling, our namesake, and to talk about the year gone by and the next year to come. And of course, to sit down and enjoy a meal together. It's like an old fashioned family supper, but for the entire Town of East Greenwich and beyond!
There will be a fun raffle, surprise awards for those who have kept Mr. Bob's spirit and legacy thriving in our community, delicious food provided by a local restaurant, and wonderful friends and allies with whom to spend the evening with.
Community dinners are one of the many ways Bob Houghtaling created community here in East Greenwich. Houghtaling was one of East Greenwich's most beloved public servants ever. He served as the town’s Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Director for over three decades and was known for his deep compassion, tireless advocacy, and creative approach to youth engagement and community building. In 2023, he tragically passed away and soon thereafter some of his closest friends, colleagues, and supporters renamed the Academy Foundation, a long-running local nonprofit that Houghtaling utilized to help local kids and families, in his honor.
The Bob Houghtaling Foundation supports youth and families by investing in their well-being. We empower a thriving community by providing resources, support, and opportunities for enrichment. We partner with the town to support the local Teen Center and lead the monthly Community Walks. We help the Town with its Holiday Food Basket program, sponsor after school field trips and bring people together in the spirit of light and love in any way we can.
