Boat Tour to Offshore Wind Turbines with SWE

We've rescheduled after Rudee had to postpone due to high seas on May 4. If you need a refund, let us know by July 20. Ticket sales are reopened to new attendees.

Join the Society of Women Engineers sections in Richmond, Hampton Roads, and Baltimore-Washington on a boat tour to view the two pilot turbines operating off the coast of Virginia Beach in Dominion Energy's Central Virginia Offshore Wind project. We have chartered a boat through Rudee Tours for a 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. trip, with 9:30 a.m. arrival to begin boarding.

The boat is equipped with two viewing levels, two bathrooms, climate-controlled cabin, full bar, and snack bar. You can also bring your own food and alcohol-free drinks on board.

We're excited to announce that engineers from Dominion Energy will deliver a presentation about the project and answer questions during our trip. This trip is organized by your Virginia SWE sections and is not affiliated with or sponsored by Dominion Energy. Thank you to Michael Lundsgaard for the turbine photos.

Please note these details about the price and capacity:

Tickets are $110 to share the cost of the charter. This includes gratuity to the crew as well as Eventbrite fees.
We need a minimum of 36 attendees to cover the cost of the trip. If we don't reach this threshold, we will need to cancel and fully refund all tickets. This decision will be made 2 weeks ahead of time.
The boat holds a maximum of 50 attendees. If we exceed our minimum threshold of 36, we will issue partial refunds to all attendees.
If you buy tickets but your plans change between now and July 20, please email SWE Richmond to arrange a refund. For cancellations after July 20, we cannot guarantee a refund unless we have sufficient attendees to still cover the charter cost.
If you request a refund by June 30, you will receive the full $110 per ticket. If you request a refund between July 1 and July 20, you will receive a refund of $100.95 per ticket. This is because Eventbrite is not refunding their fee of $9.05; SWE will cover the fee for near-term requests due to the postponement of the event.
