About the Program
The nonprofit sector needs resilient and knowledgeable board leaders to aid organizations in delivering their missions, especially now, amid COVID-19 related challenges and their impacts. CEN’s two new Nonprofit Board Leadership Certificate Programs, Board Boot Camps 1 and 2, are your opportunity to learn from and with industry experts, develop your management and governance skills and gain a robust toolkit of resources to excel and sustain yourself as a nonprofit board member. These virtual offerings are designed to be inclusive environments where participants can connect with peers to receive and provide support.
Board Boot Camps are one-day, not-for-credit coursework for current and aspiring nonprofit board members and officers. Completion of each one-day Board Boot Camp earns a certificate.

Board Chair Essentials - Take a deep dive into how to maximize the critical relationship between the board chair and CEO, review best practices of board governance/leadership, and leave with tools to ensure your board meetings are efficient and generative.
Recruiting & Retaining a High Performing Board - Explore tactics for effectively identifying what board talent your organization needs, gain practical ways to find and develop these board candidates, and discuss strategies to keep them engaged once they’ve joined the board.
Developing a Thriving Board - Learn to effectively “manage up” to build stronger relationships and move your board toward excellence and leave with a strong understanding of board management best practices and a basic plan to begin implementation.
