BLURRY BARDO

BLURRY BARDO

By Old Stone House & Washington Park

Overview

Hosted by pianist Kathleen Supové

In Tibetan Buddhism, a bardo is where beings wait to pass into the next life, but it's not a static place! Pianist Kathleen Supové creates and visits a personal bardo, one made of musical scores she has tackled throughout the years. She is haunted by their nearly insurmountable challenges, the surrounding emotional baggage, an ebbing of clarity with passing years, and chaotic memories. Will they disappear? Go on to another life? Will the pianist? And what will replace them? Should they be renewed or completely changed? Using this personal experience, Supové wants to bring the audience in, to help them cope with important things in their lives that are in transition, to come to terms with change, and to move on in the world.

Blurry Bardo is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
