Introducting The Blueliners—an all-star line-up featuring current members of Ronnie Earl’s Broadcasters and Sugar Ray and the Bluetones, and who collectively share a long resume of stage and studio work with celebrated blues, R&B, rock and roll, and country and western swing artists.
Peter “Hi -Fi” Ward, current second guitarist with the Broadcasters has toured with the Legendary Blues Band (with Muddy Waters’ sidemen Pinetop Perkins and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith) and blues greats Otis Rush, Lowell Fulson, Johnny Copeland, Sunnyland Slim, and Buddy Guy and Junior Wells.
Brother Michael “Mudcat” Ward, the founding and present bass player with Sugar Ray & the Bluetones is a 12-time nominee and two-time winner of the prestigious Blues Music Award and his recorded work includes sessions with harmonica great Big Walter Horton, Howlin' Wolf guitarist Hubert Sumlin along with Levon Helm, Eric Clapton and Keith Richards; Jimmy Rogers; Maine’s own country legend Dick Curless, and Ronnie Earl.
Rounding out the foursome are original Broadcaster and former James Cotton touring drummer Per Hanson, and multi-instrumentalist Nelson Checkoway on keyboards, guitar and steel, whose stage work spans Mike Bloomfield to Commander Cody.
Like the legendary Streamliner trains that once crossed the nation in style, the Blueliners are flying down the track with a mix of traditional, contemporary and original blues, rock and roll, country, and western swing, as they honor the past and roar into the future. Catch them at their next station stop: All aboard the Blueliners!
