Blue Innovation Reception onboard Peace Boat in New York City

From Climate Week NYC to COP 30

Friday October 17, 2025

from 2:00 - 7:00 PM

Peace Boat is an international NGO that has Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and works to promote a culture of peace and sustainability around the world by connecting people across borders and creating opportunities for learning, activism, advocacy and cooperation, primarily through voyages carried out onboard its passenger ship, the MV Pacific World. The programs enable participants to learn first-hand about global issues such as ocean conservation, environmental degradation, gender equality, and more. Peace Boat also sails with the SDGs logo on its hull, visiting approximately 100 countries around the world annually as a committed campaigner for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

As Peace Boat is docking in New York City as part of its 121st Global Voyage, a special Blue Innovation Reception will be held onboard on the afternoon of Friday October 17, bringing together diverse actors working to find innovative solutions to accelerate ocean and climate action. The event will showcase the importance of blue innovation and partnerships for transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies as we work towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Featuring keynote speeches, panel discussions, live music and performances, the event will bring together hundreds of representatives from the diplomatic community, the United Nations, foundations and the private sector, with a focus on blue ocean industry technology, sharing best practices for responsible ocean stewardship. The event will also highlight the outcomes of the UN Ocean Conference for a sustainable blue economy as we work towards COP 30 in Brazil this November. Peace Boat will present its upcoming “Youth for the SDGs” scholarship program, an officially endorsed ‘Contribution’ to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development by IOC UNESCO, and Ecoship, an environmentally sustainable passenger ship, working towards decarbonization of the maritime sector and innovative solutions for a sustainable blue economy. A percentage of funds will go towards programs for the UN Ocean Decade.
