GitHub is primarily thought of as web-based repository for sharing code and collaborating on computer programming projects. However, several museums, cultural heritage institutions, academic libraries, etc. are using GitHub as a platform for releasing datasets, providing documentation, and more. Eli Pousson of Baltimore Heritage will help us learn how GitHub is useful from a library, archive, and museum perspective.

This Intro to GitHub #blamclass will introduce you to GitHub’s initial functions. We’ll work with a repository as a group and explore what else GitHub offers.

Please note that this class is limited. Once all 25 seats are filled, we will start a wait list.

This workshop is for:

Citizen and professional archivists; librarians; artists; educators; curators; students of all majors, especially library and information science, humanities, and curatorial practice. Anyone interested in open source and open access.
