Cum jine we for a powerful performance honoring the courage and legacy of Harriet Tubman — lovingly known as Black Moses.
This original play, written by Sarah Reynolds Green and performed by local youth, brings to life Tubman’s extraordinary leadership during the Combahee River Raid — one of the most daring military operations of the Civil War — which freed more than 700 enslaved people right here in the Lowcountry.
Through storytelling, music, and performance, our students connect history to the present, celebrating Tubman’s bravery and the enduring resilience of the Gullah Geechee people. More than a tribute to an American hero, this production is a celebration of youth voices preserving and sharing history.
On June 2, 1863, Harriet Tubman led a guerrilla mission along the Combahee River — the first and only military operation in U.S. history conceived and executed by a woman.
Come celebrate Gullah Geechee culture, heritage, and the enduring spirit of freedom.
