Black Girls Play with Clay is a beginner-friendly pottery wheel workshop designed for Black Millennial & Gen Z women to center themselves, get creative, and enjoy time in community. Hosted at Bisc Pottery Studio, a Black woman-owned space, this workshop is all about joy, play, and connection.

💫 What to Expect:

  • A 50-minute guided pottery wheel session
  • Make your own bowl, cup, or small piece to take home
  • Light refreshments
  • A welcoming studio space built for us, by us

Frequently asked questions

What should I wear and bring?

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting clay on. Aprons will be provided, and clay washes out of most materials. ✨ Pro tip: Remove rings, bracelets, watches, and anything from your arms up to the elbows before class.

What if I’ve never done pottery before?

No worries at all! This class is beginner-friendly. Sharon, the owner of Bisc Pottery Studio, will be guiding us step by step.

When can I take my piece home?

Sharon will finish your piece for you by firing it in the kiln (that’s the final baking step!). Yours will be ready for pickup 2 weeks from the event date at the studio and you’ll receive an email from biscpotterystudio@gmail.com using the address you provide on Eventbrite.

Can I have my piece mailed to me?
