Birds Of Fire

The early 70s were a time of unparalleled experimentation in music. Eastern European symphonic music merged with the heavily blues-based rock of the late 60s and spawned the genre we now know as Prog-Rock. At the same time, seemingly every musician who played with Miles Davis in his Bitches Brew era brainstormed on how they could continue the evolution of jazz while also bringing it to a younger audience who was craving new sounds. Enter the era of Jazz-Fusion.

Birds Of Fire is a tribute to the classic bands that emerged from both the Prog and Fusion movements: King Crimson, Jeff Beck, Return To Forever, Tony Williams Lifetime, UK, Rush, Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Frank Zappa and of course, the titular Mahavishnu Orchestra. Whether this was the music you grew up with or discovered later in life, now you can experience music which was created to challenge and enthrall you, as performed by musicians who wish they had been there when it all started:

Andy Bruce – keys/vocals
Dave DeMarco – vocals/bass
Tobias Hurwitz – guitar/vocals
Greta Thomas – violin/vocals
Frank Young – drums/vocals

You’ve heard these cats with the Carl Filipiak Band, Crack The Sky, Atomic Light Orchestra, Petty Coat Junction and many more. Now hear them pay homage to an era that could only happen once in a lifetime.
