Bird Hat Making Workshop

Part 1: Tuesday, August 5th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Part 2: Tuesday, August 12th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Room 108, Parkway Central Library, 1901 Vine St.

Join Special Collections and the Art Department for this two-part workshop and leave with your very own giant bird hat! In part 1, using recycled materials we will sculpt cardboard hats into the shape of one of Philadelphia's local bird species. In part 2 we will complete construction of the hats, add soft fabric on the inside to get a snug fit, and begin painting! If not finished by the end of part 2, participants can finish painting their hats at home.

This program is part of Go Birds: Appreciating Our Avian Friends, a special exhibition on view in the Second Floor West Gallery of Parkway Central Library. Go Birds is a collaboration of the Children's Literature Research Collection, the Government Publications Department, the Map Collection, and the Print and Picture Collection. Visit the exhibition whenever Parkway Central Library is open through August 30th, 2025.
