Bighorn Sheep Viewing — Provo
Overview
Join the Division of Wildlife Resources, Provo City and the Utah Wild Sheep Foundation near the mouth of Rock Canyon for an opportunity to see bighorn sheep!
This free family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Rock Canyon Park pavilion area in Provo, UT.
What to expect:
- There will be a chance of seeing bighorn sheep on the mountain side.
- Utah DWR will have binoculars and spotting scopes people can use to view sheep on the mountain from the pavilion gathering area.
- There will be signs directing people to the pavilion at the Rock Canyon Park trail.
- Utah DWR and the Utah Wild Sheep Foundation personnel will be onsite to answer questions about Utah's Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep.
- Restrooms and a playground are onsite.
What to bring:
- Viewing equipment such as binoculars or a spotting scope (we will have a limited supply provided for free use).
- Water, a hat, jacket and camera!
Please note: The sheep in this area are visible year round, so if you cannot make the event (or if we are at capacity), feel free to visit the area on your own time! Bring your binoculars and scan the mountain side to spot these unique animals located east of Rock Canyon Park. Please remember to view these animals from a safe distance.
See you there!
