Introducing Big Brain is a fictional afrosurrealist episodic scripted series from the minds of Arial Robinson & Krishanni Smith.

In the pilot episode we are introduced to an unlikely pair of emerging young adult artists in Charlotte, NC both having to navigate consciousness, forward their careers through adversity and illuminate the community following major budget cuts.

Join us for a special screening of this pilot episode and group discussion.

Facilitator Bio:

Arial Robinson is Multidisciplinary Artist & Creative Director born and based in Charlotte, NC. Robinson’s holistic view of art and its many mediums, has informed her directorial choices. With 6 years of experience working in the social marketing & advertising space, Arial is currently applying her skillset to craft more long-form projects.

Krishanni Smith is a filmmaker, director, and producer born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Krishanni’s work is characterized by its rich visual storytelling and ability to capture human emotion within dynamic environments. With over a decade of film experience, Krishanni has led campaigns from concept to completion.

Founded in 1974 and named for Charlotte civic leader and former mayor Harvey Bernard Gantt, the Gantt Center’s mission is to present, preserve and celebrate excellence in the art, history and culture of African-Americans and those of African descent. Designed by Philip Freelon, co-designer of the new Smithsonian National Museum for African American Art and Culture, the Gantt Center features fine art exhibits from around the world.
