Bhagavad Gita Class/ Discussion
By Vedanta Society of NSW
Overview
The Bhagavad Gita is a spiritual classic that's enriched cultures throughout Asia over the centuries.
Class & discussion led by Pravrajika Sridharaprana, senior nun of Sri Sarada Math of the Ramakrishna Order.
We Continue Study of Chapter 15:
The Way to the Supreme Spirit :
Verses 3 - 5
Discussion Themes:
- THE ONE REMAINS: It’s often welcomed in our youth; often resented and resisted as we age; often exciting, and unsettling, transformative and unavoidable. It’s that constant in life called Change. In our search for stability, and reliability we’re instinctively seeking the unchanging One behind the universe.
- COSMIC CYCLE: We’re part of a beginningless cosmic cycle of creation, maintenance and dissolution. Nothing is permanent here. In our evolution spread over so many lives of joy and sorrow, of triumph and tragedy, at some point we will long to: “Achieve union with that Divine Reality from which this universe has been flowing for ages.”
- FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION: ‘A human being has that capacity to ask that fundamental question: ‘Where did I come from? How can I reach there?’ We have that capacity and therefore the sages exercised that capacity, realized that truth, and told it to humanity in the Vedas. There you find a profound truth about all humanity.’
