Overview

In a world defined by constant demands, rapid change, and relentless noise, how do we stay grounded and thrive? Join Kelly Crace, Executive Director of Contemplative Sciences Center, for an inspiring lecture on how UVA is cultivating spaces for contemplation, connection, and research to support human flourishing. This More Than the Score lecture will be held in the newly constructed Contemplative Commons, a serene space nestled beside the Dell Pond, designed to invite deep introspection and reflection.

In-person participants at this program will have an opportunity to tour the new facility following this talk.

Speaker Biography

Kelly Crace, Executive Director, Contemplative Sciences Center

Kelly Crace joined the Contemplative Sciences Center as the Executive Director in January 2025. Previously, Crace served as associate vice president for health and wellness and as director of the Center for Mindfulness and Authentic Excellence (CMAX) at William & Mary. He also directed college mental health centers at both William & Mary and Duke University.

A licensed psychologist, Kelly is the co-author of Authentic Excellence: Flourishing & Resilience in a Relentless World and the Life Values Inventory , a tool designed to help individuals and organizations clarify their values and serve as a blueprint for effective decision-making and optimal functioning. He has published and presented in the areas of values, flourishing, resilience, life role development and transition, and organizational development, and has conducted more than 3,000 seminars for organizations.

This UVA Lifetime Learning program is in partnership with the Contemplative Sciences Center.

More Than the Score

This Lifetime Learning program is part of the More Than The Score faculty lecture series. On the mornings of home football games, hear from some of UVA’s top minds.

All talks are free, open to all, and held in-person and virtually at 10 am.
