Overview

How often have your young clients said “I don’t know” or been totally silent? This conversational style training will guide play therapy conceptualization in a trauma informed way. How can we therapeutically respond to the "whatever" and "I don't know" responses that usually come with a shrug? Training will discuss techniques for working with hesitancy, trust, ambivalence, and silence of the children and adolescents we see.

Training will discuss tips for conceptualizing and documenting mostly nonverbal sessions.

Objectives

  • Increase conceptualization of clients who present as less verbal
  • Gain skills in working with hesitancy and ambivalence in child and adolescent clients.
  • Gain skills in documenting sessions with low verbal content
