The Art of Living Part 1 Program—now commonly called the Happiness Program—is the foundational course offered by the Art of Living Foundation, founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. It focuses on practical tools for stress reduction, emotional well-being, and overall mental clarity.
Key Components
1. Sudarshan Kriya™ (SKY Breath Meditation)
- This is the signature rhythmic breathing technique taught in the course.
- It helps release deep physical and emotional stress, improves sleep, boosts energy, and enhances calmness.
2. Yogic Breathing & Pranayama
- Techniques like Bhastrika, Nadi Shodhan (alternate nostril breathing), and others.
- They balance the nervous system and improve focus.
3. Light Yoga & Stretching
- Simple sequences to improve flexibility and mind–body connection.
4. Practical Wisdom
- Discussions on how to manage the mind, reduce unnecessary stress, handle emotions, and improve relationships.
5. Meditation & Mindfulness Practices
- Guided meditations for relaxation and clarity.
Format
- Usually conducted over 3 days (sometimes 4), about 2.5–3 hours per day.
