BEYOND BORDER WALLS 2025: Voices from Near & Far

Overview

The Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra & Chorus’ musical journey spans continents.

Hear music transcend boundaries as the Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra & Chorus presents a musical journey spanning continents—from Argentina's much-loved Misa Criolla to a WORLD PREMIERE by Bay Area composer Benjamin Gribble.

A Historic Filipino Music Celebration

The concert also features an extraordinary program of Filipino music, including compositions from Filipino-American composer, John Calloway, featuring the Bay Area's own Kulintang Dialect, and Lucio San Pedro's masterpiece Lahing Kayumanggi

In a historic first, the Golden Gate Symphony will become the first non-Filipino ensemble in the world to perform San Pedro's Lahing Kayumanggi

Led by Conrad Benedicto, Kulintang Dialect honors the legacy of traditional Filipino gong music, performing alongside the full orchestra and chorus.

Misa Criolla soloists include Gabrielle Goozee-Nichols (soprano), Celeste Camarena (mezzo-soprano), and Timothy Echavez Salaver (baritone), all under the direction of Maestro Urs Leonhardt Steiner.

This marks the fourth installment in GGSOC's Beyond the Border Wall concert series, a meaningful tradition celebrating the universal language of music that flows freely between cultures, creating bridges where walls might divide.
