Beyond Benchmarks: Understanding and Responding to the Child

Developmental benchmarks play a role in helping understand each child’s development. However, beyond those benchmarks and checklists, each child is unique and learns at their own pace in their own

way. If a child doesn’t learn from the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn. We will gain strategies to meet the individual learning needs of each child using NC FELD (North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development) domains, subdomains, and goals as a framework.
